Fukuoka/ Moomin Cafe!

Today I went to explore the city of Fukuoka!

Fukuoka, famous for it's ancient temples, art, shopping and ramen, is the capital city of Fukuoka Prefecture and the largest city on the island of Kyushu.

I only went there for the one day, so there is much that I didn't get a chance to see, so I would recommend staying at least a couple of days to anyone else thinking of going.

Anyway, here's what I did see...

Kushida Shrine

Fukuoka Asia Art Museum/ out and about the City

Canal City- a huge shopping center and one of Fukuoka's main tourist attractions. It also contains a delicious ramen stadium!

It had a Studio Ghibli shop- Yay more money spent on things I don't need!

Finally.... MOOMIN CAFE

This place was completely packed when I arrived, so I had to come back a couple of hours later... Who knew Moomins were so popular in Japan??

Their products are over priced for what they are, but they still taste good!

Plus they're super cute! Pineapple cake, yum!

When I came here after rush hour it was fairly quiet. I actually picked a table without a Moomin because I thought it would be weird. The waitress still brought this guy over to sit with me anyway...

... and I was right. It was kind of weird.

Cat Cafe Hiroshima!

WARNING: This post contains lots of cats!

So today I had my first cat cafe experience... and it was glorious!

Any of you other cat owners/ lovers will know how it feels to suffer from what I call 'cat-withdrawal' after being away from your pets for so long. Until today I had been in Japan for just over 5 months and not been able to pet a single cat! It's torture!

But this morning I was able to get a healthy dose of cat at the Baron Cat Cafe in downtown Hiroshima.

even the welcome mat is adorable!

For ¥1000 you can spend an hour with the cats and get a free drink of your choice!
This fuzzy fella did not like me...

so cute!

All the cats have their photos and profiles!

I warned you there would be lots of cats!
